Description:
April 24-29, 2024: A repeat of previous weeks but 0.04" rain total for the past week (measured on April 26). Cool mornings continue (40's) and mild to warm days (60's-70's). Breezy to windy during the day. Garden and yard plants are thriving in the spring weather, but the soil is dry. The yard irrigation well has been on for more than a week. Lawn grass is growing fast, needing to be mowed every few days where watered. A male and female Anna's hummingbird are still using the feeders. Black chinned hummingbirds have not showed up yet. Red-tailed hawks are back, cruising the neighborhood for meals. Squirrels are keeping a low profile when the hawks fly over! Discharge in the Boise River at Glenwood Bridge was lowered from 3,950 cfs earlier in the week to 3,750 cfs on April 26th. Snow is rapidly disappearing on highest peaks above the valley. Several days of cold mornings (low 30's) are forecast for this week followed by much warmer weather after about the end of week.
