Howdy! From the Panhandle to the Gulf Coast, El Paso to Texarkana, CoCoRaHS would like to welcome you to our Network!
If you'd like to join us, there are a couple of prerequisites: - you must have a standard 4" diameter rain gauge in a well sited location the nearest object - i.e. a tree - should be twice as far away from the gauge as that object is high. Wonder what a standard 4" diameter rain gauge looks like See these gauges at .. www.weatheryourway.com .. where you can also buy them at a great price!! - you have access to internet where you can enter your precipitation data on a daily basis
It's easy to sign-up to become an observer click here "Join CoCoRaHS". Once you do you will receive a station ID and your precipitation observations will start showing up daily on our Texas state and county maps. You will also provide a great service to your community by allowing your friends, neighbors, scientists and others including the local National Weather Service offices to see how daily precipitation has covered the Lone Star state.
As I close, I remind you that over the next 100 years, water is going to be one of the biggest issues that Texans will face. How better than to have this grassroots effort, on the part of citizens of our state, to report precipitation amounts on a daily basis Let's make it happen!! I look forward to your involvement in this important program.
Sincerely,
William (Bill) RunyonCoCoRaHS - Texas State Coordinator
