Only 0.92" of rain so far in September 2023. Over 2" below normal so far with only 7 and 3/4 days to go. Leaves are falling off as if fall were in full swing on this very first day of Autumn 2023. Local farmers have used up most or nearly all of their irrigation ponds at this point. Wild fires are up and burning bans are still in effect. Water in wells in parts of our county are reaching water level lows. Our Yadkin Pee Dee River provides for our city folks as its origins are in our NC mountains. They to our west are fairing better than us in rainfall this month , as are our counties near the coast.
