After one inch of rain four days ago it has been hot and dry. Some brown lawn patches at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, and drooping elderflower bushes. At night we see only one or two fireflies, rather than dozens.(A neighboring garden was cleared this spring and turfed-over). Honeysuckle is in bloom, still. A heat advisory is in effect for the next week, beginning today.
