Notes: I wasn't home at the time, but my wife noted the observations. I got home just 15 min after the hail and rain ended. The southwest part of Longmont was DRY... I only saw wet roads N of Nelson Rd (along Airport Rd, headed N), then shredded leaves N of the Vance Brand airport and in my neighborhood. My wife said that it was pretty scary stuff. Some of my son's plastic toys were shattered or had holes in them from the hail stones. Some of the stones were pointy on one end, and more broadly elongated on the other end with an elongated crystaline look to them - like shafts of ice coming out of the stone. Odd looking hail. The Denver NEXRAD showed 65-70 dBZ over our area. Some small piles of hail were evident around our yard and along the roadside on Airport Rd at about 6pm.
